Ignition system for an internal combustion engine of the type consisting: of a pulse generator the rotor of which has permanent magnets and the stator of which has electromagnets, the generator being intended to be rotationally driven by a rotating element of the engine. The said generator being connected by a diode to the primary of a coil, the secondary of which is connected to at least one spark plug (1), characterised in that the said generator consists of at least two rotors (4) coupled together coaxially with permanent magnets arranged facing a stator having electromagnets, so as to produce a current, the alternations of which can at least partially cancel each other out when they are in phase opposition and add to each other when they are in phase before amplification. <IMAGE>
