Procedure for testing the fermentation of sugars with acid and gas production and other biochemical reactions in colonies grown on filtrating membranes, applicable in processes for analysis of contamination of water and other purposes in the food industry. Said procedure consists in depositing a gauze with a determinate mesh over the filtrating membrane on which the colonies have grown, and then adding a culture type which has previously been developed for this purpose in such a way that it covers all the gauze and is retained in the actual mesh, forming small fixed cubicles in order to prevent movement of the coliforms.
