Induction heating furnace for metal rod includes a lifting device (5,5') and a holding device (14) which work in unison with a feeding device (16,45) to raise the rod into the heating area and hold it until the next rod is fed into the furnace bottom. The rods are thereby raised up into the furnace in a stepwise manner until they reach the exit position at the top and are transported away.
