The field angle evaluation appts. is effected by calculating the EMF vector from the measured current and voltage values for the stator, with subsequent integration. A microprocessor provides discontinuous values (W) for the varying frequency of the EMF vector, at a relatively slow clock rate, for controlling an external integrator (INT 1). This provides a quasi-continuous field angle signal at a higher clock rate. The microprocessor pref. obtains the discontinuous frequency values by digital differentiation of the direction angle of the EMF vector.
