The method for manufacturing packaging from a thin sheet consists in pleating the sheet (6) originating from a reel (1) perpendicularly to the direction of its advance, in temporarily fastening the edges (4) of the pleats (3) in a station (8) which is synchronised with the pleater (2), whilst the station (10) for definitive fastening of the edges of the pleats is separated by a loop (9) permitting a different work rate synchronised with the station (11) for separating the completed packagings by cutting.
