<p>The action to guide a paper web and its leader from a coating machine is applied by a number of contactless pneumatic carrier and dryer units. These deliver blown air at the leader, and across the whole web width, in the direction of web travel. The blowing force is less when the leader passes through than when it is applied over the whole width of the web. Where the web finally passes round a number of mesh cylinders, pneumatic air support is provided in the passage of the web between the cylinders.</p> |
