摘要 The laser, consisting of a medium (1) and 2 mirrors (21,22), is fitted inside a ceramic tube (3), pref. silimanith. The feature is that the medium and mirrors are held by adjustable supports (4) which fit also inside the tube. Each mirror is held with 3 supports on its perimeter which are at an angle of 120 deg. to each other, the laser medium is held by a support (4) at each end which features 3 holders at 120 deg. angular distance. The holders all consist of a setscrew (7) which fits inside a blind hole (8) in the part to be supported on one side, and inside a plastic nut (6) which has been pressed into a hole (5) drilled in the ceramic tube wall (3). The laser medium pref. is Ar contained in a tube. The holes, drilled in the ceramic tube wall pref. are placed in the right position and at a right angle to the required length axis of the instrument instead of the actual, usually curved, length axis of the ceramic tube. - The adjustment of the positions of the 3 parts occurs relative to the required length axis, not the actual tube axis. USE/ADVANTAGE - Adjustments allow the tube defects such as curvature and variation of thickness to be ignored in setting up the laser. This allows a ceramic tube to be used to support the laser and results in a much lighter weight. The laser can be operated over a large temp. range because of the low expansion coefft. of the tube. The mirrors are securely supported, resulting in a high resistance to mechanical shocks during use and transport.
