PURPOSE:To improve a traveling property and durability and to allow easy production by depositing and forming a 1st porous carbon protective film on a magnetic layer consisting of a ferromagnetic metallic material formed on a nonmagnetic base body, then depositing and forming a 2nd carbon protective film having a dense structure thereon. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic layer 2 consisting of a ferromagnetic metallic thin film of a CoCr alloy, etc., is deposited and formed atop the nonmagnetic base body 1 and the 1st porous carbon protective film 3 is deposited and formed atop this magnetic layer 2. The 2nd carbon protective film 4 having the dense structure is deposited and formed on the 1st carbon protective film 3. Then, the surface structure having much ruggedness is formed and the surface contact area is decreased. The coeft. muk of dynamic friction on the surface of the protective films decreases in this way and the traveling property is improved. Further, the film strength of the protective films is strong and the films hardly peel and, therefore, the clogging of a head does not arise and the reproduced output does not degrade. |
