PURPOSE:To produce a light-gage strip having a final thickness and a good surface condition directly from a molten metal by selecting the temp. of the molten metal, nozzle conditions, and the material and surface roughness of a roll. CONSTITUTION:A crucible 2 having a heater 4 around the same and a nozzle 3 at the bottom end is disposed above a cooling roll 1 under rotation. A molten low melting point soft metal 5 having <=450 deg.C m.p. and <=10kg/mm.<2> tensile strength at an ordinary temp. is held in the crucible 2 and is ejected through a nozzle 3 having poor wettability with the molten metal at the temp. higher by 50-300 deg.C than the m.p. onto the surface of the retotating roll 1 having <=500 W/m deg.K heat conductivity, by which the molten metal is quickly cooled and solidified and a light-gage strip 6 having <=100mum thickness is obtd. |
