PURPOSE:To provide a gas discharge display of low operating voltage and low power consumption in driving it in simple structure by forming a conductive layer on the portion of each of dielectric layers, that is faced in an electric discharge region. CONSTITUTION:A displaying and electric discharging region DC composed of a display anode 3 and a display cathode 7a, and an auxiliary electric discharging region SC composed of an auxiliary anode 5 and an auxiliary cathode 7b are respectively formed in each of electric discharge regions partitionedly formed in the shape of a matrix respectively by dielectric layers 10a and cathode bus-bars 8, all of which are patterned respectively on light-trapping layers 12 formed on a front glass-substrate 1. Also a conductive layer 13 is laminatedly formed on the face of each of the layers 10a, that is faced in the region DC. In this structure, auxiliary electric discharge caused between the auxiliary anode 5 and the auxiliary cathode 7b is led to the region DC through a slit 11 between another dielectric layer 10b and a back glass-substrate 2. Then each of phosphors 9 deposited on the upper side of the substrate 2 is excited to emit light by an ultraviolet ray generated through aerial discharge caused between the display anode 3 and the cathode 7a, and accordingly the light is emitted to the front glass-substrate 1. |
