PURPOSE:To easily obtain the titled compound useful as a raw material for pharmaceuticals, by reacting esters of 2-cyclopenten-4-on-1-ol with an optically active 1,6-diphenyl-2,4-hexadiyne-1,6-diol and subjecting the reaction product to liquid interchange with a guest molecule. CONSTITUTION:A 2-cyclopenten-4-on-1-ol ester of formula I (R is aliphatic hydrocarbon group) is made to contact with an optically active 1,6-diphenyl-2,4- hexadiyne-1,6-diol derivative of formula II (R' is halogenated phenyl, lower alkylphenyl, naphthyl, etc.; * is asymmetric carbon atom) and the obtained optically active 2-cyclopenten-4-on-1-ol ester of formula III is bonded to the above compound of formula II. The resultant optically active cyclopentenone ester complex is subjected to ligand interchange reaction with a guest molecule to separate a complex composed of the guest molecule and the compound of formula II as a crystal. The objective compound can be separated from the mother liquor.
