The present invention relates to an inclination mechanism, capable of adjusting the angular position of a backrest with respect to a seat part of the seat. This mechanism comprises an arrangement of satellite pinions consisting of a baseplate (10), an operating pinion (16), a pivoting arm (12) mounted so that it can rotate on the baseplate through the use of a rotary shaft (14), each pinion of a plurality of satellite pinions (18) having two opposed cylindrical projections (18a), each of two support plates being mounted coaxially on the rotary shaft in order to keep the cylindrical projections (18a) mounted rotationally by the support plates so that the satellite pinions can be held inside a given orbit of revolution about the operating pinion.
