The invention relates to a device for aerating fluids, esp. waste water which has to be biologically treated. Water to be treated passes through a ventilation channel with aeration units for distribution of air. The separate aeration units are located near the base of the channel and have a flat upper surface parallel to the channel base. Air permeable elements are located in recesses in the aeration units and are supplied with pressurized air. USE/ADVANTAGE - The appts. is used to aerate fluids, esp. waste water has lower flow resistance in the aeration channel and therefore requires less energy.
