<p>Granular material such as salt is dispensed in metered amounts from a hopper with a bottom outlet. Above the outlet a horizontal metering shaft rotates to and fro, and is of non-round cross-section. The hopper can taper towards the outlet, while the distance between the latter and the shaft is adjustable. The angle through which the shaft turns can also be adjustable, and it can have a lever actuated by a ram.</p> |
