PURPOSE:To minimize an error rate at signal transmission by providing a signal point discrimination threshold level to a point at which the sum of areas corresponding to the probability density distribution is minimized, in which mis- discrimination takes place among signal points whose signal point discrimination threshold level is adjacent to each other. CONSTITUTION:In the case of the orthogonal amplitude modulation system in which signal points are arranged in a honey-comb shape, when the probability density distribution of signal points resulting from projecting lst and 2nd signal points 1A, 1B adjacent to each other onto the P or Q axis differs from each other, signal point discrimination threshold levels 2A, 2B are set so that the sum of the area of the probability density distribution causing mis-discrimination to the signal point 1A and the area of the probability density distribution causing mis-discrimination to the signal point 1B intersected by using the signal point discrimination threshold levels 2A, 2B provided between the signal points 1A, 1B as border lines is minimized. Thus, an error rate at signal transmission is minimized. |
