The vehicle forms a type of scooter or tricycle provided so that the user stands on it and guides it by means of handlebars 7 associated with the front wheel or wheels 4, having two rear drive wheels 8 which are actuated by two identical mechanisms mounted on the axle 9 of said wheels 8. Each mechanism includes a conventional bicycle pinion 13, a hub 14 for rolling up a cable 15 and an element 16 for unrolling said cable 15, the latter passing from the hub 14 via a pulley 17 and a roller 18, and being fixed by its other end to the connecting rod 11 of a pedal 10 for supporting the user's foot. The alternating to-and-fro motion of the two pedals 10 and their displacement in an arc gives rise to the rolling-up and unrolling of the cables 15 and therewith rotation of the wheels 8 and continuous forward movement of the vehicle. <IMAGE>
