PURPOSE:To improve the high-density of recording information and to improve reliability by controlling a recording signal based on recording characteristics by the combination of a recording medium and a recorder. CONSTITUTION:A reproduction binary signal 7 is inputted to an edge timing detection circuit 13, and converted to a polarity inversion distance signal 14 of a digital signal. The output signal of a detection circuit 13 is inputted to a decision circuit 16 for recording power setting and a decision circuit 17 for pulse width setting. The decision circuit 16 is operated at the time of a record ing power searching mode and at the time of a recording condition check mode, and the decision circuit 17 is operated at the time of a table preparation mode for pulse width adjustment. In this case, the distribution is taken while the devitation amount of detected edge position is classified by plural information lines according to the length of high or low level of written laser pulse to a laser pulse edge at the corresponding time of writing, the average value of each deviation amount from these distribution is calculated, and the recording characteristics on the edge position is measured. Thus, the high-density of the recording information can be realized. |
