MATERIAL-DISPENSING APPARATUS

An apparatus adapted for dispensing material from an open rearward end of a container, having a wedgeshaped blade operatively coupled to an elongate endless loop, and drive means for rotation of the endless loop to allow for back-and-forth movement of the blade within the container along a lowermost planar surface thereof. The blade has a rearwardly-facing flat face, and a converging forward surface. In a preferred embodiment, two endless loops comprised of a plurality of chain links are provided, one at each end of the blade, each loop extending parallel to the planar surface of the container and perpendicular to the flat face of the blade. An elongate spindle member located forwardly of the blade means is provided, extending transversely between each of the two loops. Toothed sprocket idler wheels at opposite ends of the spindle member are provided to allow each end of the spindle member to engage the respective loops. Alternating the direction of rotation of the endless loops causes the back-and-forth movement of the blade means along the planar surface.
