Piston ring for IC engine - has sloping lower ring surface

The piston ring may be used in an IC engine. It has an axial cut forming a rigid joint, and a sloping surface, on the lower ring force. The surface decreases in size away from the joints, and merges into the lower running face edge. The sloping surface extends over the complete lower ring face (7), and ends at the lower corner (9) of the inner joint edge (6), at an angle (beta) of between 10 deg. and 60 deg.
