D-20318 THERMOPLASTIC COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING STABILIZED ANTIMICROBIAL AGENTS The invention relates to the stabilization of antimicrobial bisphenoxarsine and bisphenarsazine compounds by incorporating with the antimicrobial compounds certain free radical scavengers including inorganic salts that contain transition metal cations, such as cuprous iodide, or organic compounds derived from piperidine, such as ¢bis(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl 4-piperidinyl) sebacate!. Articles, such as fibers, which contain these stabilized antimicrobial compounds have improved antimicrobial activity compared to articles containing the antimicrobial compound without the stabilizer. |
