<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the development of crack in a cast strip and to stably cast the cast strip by adding compound, which constituded oxide in scum floated up on surface of molten metal in pouring basin is made to low m.p., on the surface of molten metal or into the molten metal. CONSTITUTION:Solidification starting temp. of the scum floated up on the surface of pouring basin is lowered and the obtd. molten scum is floated up on the surface of pouring basin as uniform film-state. Sticking of the scum to the surface of cast strip is made to uniform, and by this method, uniformization of solidification is obtd. to prevent the crack in the cast slab. Kind and quantity of the added compound for lowering the solidification starting temp. in such way, are suitably selected according to composition and quantity of the scum formed on the surface of pouring basin and the liquidus temp. of molten metal. By this method, the scum on the molten metal surface in the pouring basin is made to the low m.p., and by making the sticking of scum to the cast strip uniformly, as the development of crack in the cast strip is prevented, the cast strip can be stably cast.</p> |
