PURPOSE: To provide a non-impact type chuck by reducing a frictional loss in a chuck mechanism so as to increase an effective fastening torque, through a wear reducing bearing interposed between a nut and a chuck. CONSTITUTION: A male thread 34 has a fine pitch male thread by which a fastening torque is converted into a large holding force, a circumferential groove 36 is formed at a body member 16, and a sprit nut 38 has a female thread 40. A front sleeve 12 is formed of polycarbonate or the like. A serration 44 is formed in the sprit nut 38 to retain the front sleeve 12 to the nut 38 without receiving an excessive stress. A circumferential race 46 is formed at a rear surface of the body member 16 to accommotate a wear reduction bearing 48. A bearing thrust ring 50 is pressure inserted into the member 16 to form a bearing race 54. A rear sleeve member 14 is fixed to the body member 16, while a jaw 18 is moved back and forth, and a frictional loss is made minimum while a maximum part of fastening torque is converted into a fastening force. |
