PURPOSE:To improve laser welding quality by comparing the laser output actually measured by an optical sensor disposed at the outer edge of a laser beam with a reference output value and controlling the output in such a manner that the laser output coincides with this value. CONSTITUTION:The optical sensor 14 is disposed at the outer edge of the laser beam 5 and the laser output is actually measured at a laser irradiation device 3 which emits the laser beam 5 toward objects 1 to be welded. The actually measured data is fed back to a controller 9 and is compared with the reference output value. The controller controls the output in such a manner that the actually measured data coincides with the reference output value. The rapid and exact dealing with the output change of the laser beam is executed in this way and the generation of errors in the actual output is obviated. The welding quality is, therefore, uniform and is improved. |
