The invention is intended for use at sales points and enables the customer to access parts of the contents of, for instance, compact discs while they are still packaged. It comprises a sensor system (2) which is responsive to parts (3) of the sound, or image-recording packaging (4) or other accessory elements associated with the sound or image recording, such as a label, a data-carrier (3) attached to the packaging, or recognition features (8), plus a processing unit (5), a memory (12) capable of holding the parts of the contents to be replayed, and a replay unit (6). The customer passes a compact disc, still in its packaging, past a region of the sensor and can immediately hear a representative sample of the contents. |
