COLOR FILTER ARRAY HAVING BLUE FILTER LAYER AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter array having a blue filter layer with good spectral characteristics and good light resistance. SOLUTION: The color filter array has a blue filter layer formed on a substrate, and the blue filter layer contains a triaryl methane dye having the absorption maximum at 550 to 650 nm wavelength and has >=70% transmittance at 450 nm wavelength and <=5% at 650 nm wavelength. The blue filter layer may contain copper phthalocyanine dye having the absorption maximum at 600 to 700 nm wavelength and further may contain a xanthene dye having the absorption maximum at 500 to 600 nm wavelength. The array can be formed by patterning a positive or negative photosensitive resin composition to form the blue filter layer. The color filter array is disposed in the front side of a charge-coupled device and used for a solid-state image pickup device. The array is also used for a liquid crystal display device.
