PURPOSE:To cut high manganese steel with high efficiency by composing a throw-away tip of Al2O3 group ceramics including SiC whiskers and carbide such as V, Zr, etc., and having the whiskers oriented parallel to the face of the tip. CONSTITUTION:In cutting high Mn steel is used a throw-away tip made of Al2O3 group ceramics including 3-40wt.% of SiC whiskers and 0.5-40wt.% of one or at least 2 kinds of Si, V, Cr, Zr, Nb, Mo, Hf, Ta, W carbide, nitride and nitric carbide and having the whiskers oriented nearly parallel to the face of the tip. This tip is excellent in the toughness, strength, high temperature strength, high temperature hardness, anti-wear property and ant-breaking property, so that it can cut the high Mn steel with high feed-in, high speed and thereby high efficiency. |
