PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve system of an engine capable of setting height adjustment of a lash adjuster to a minute unit and performing minute adjustment of a tappet clearance easily. SOLUTION: A male screw 26a of an adjust bolt 26 is screw-fitted in a mounting base 25 fixed to a cylinder head 11. A pivot nut 28 is screw-fitted in a male screw 26f in an upper part of the adjust bolt 26. Dimensions of one pitch of a female screw 25a and a female screw 25f are made different from each other. A first spring clip 27 holding a turn position of the adjust bolt 26 elastically every time the adjust bolt 26 is turned by 90 degrees in cooperation with a first to a fourth turn prevention faces 26b to 26e formed on the adjust bolt 26 is provided between the mounting base 25 and the adjust bolt 26. A second spring clip 29 having the same function as the clip 27 is provided between the adjust bolt 26 and the pivot nut 28.
