There is disclosed a method for processing a silver halide color photographic material which is improved in processing stability, particularly when the photographic materials are intermittently processed with the use of a processing machine, wherein the photographic material is developed in a color developing solution containing a chloride in a concentration of not less than 6 x 10<-><2> mol/lit. and a buffering agent having pKa value of not less than 10.5 at a temperature of not lower than 38 DEG C.
