PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a previous search result when performing a search from the same search criteria, in a document control system having a document search function, to permit the search through only documents different from those in the previous search within the same searching range so that the searching range is narrowed down while speeding up the search performed often. SOLUTION: If the search criteria are inputted from a client and search instructions arrive at a server, the server examines whether that the previous search from the inputted search citeria has been performed is registered with a search criteria memory part. If not registered, the server newly registers the search criteria inputted this time and the time at that instant, then searches every document according to the search criteria of this time, and displays the search result to store it. If registered, the server searches only the document which matches the search criteria and the registration time or the update time is newer than the time at the previous search, displays the search result, also extracts the search result obtained at the previous search from a search result memory part to display it, and adds the search result of this time to the result obtained at the previous search.
