PURPOSE:To improve the generality of a shift register by providing the shift register with the 1st and 2nd switching circuits and selectively actuating respective circuits. CONSTITUTION:When a switching control signal CH is set up to an 'H' level, switching elements Ya, Xa in a switching control circuit are turned on and switching elements Yb, Xb are turned off, so that inputted data DS are transferred in a direction (positive rotation direction) from a front stage side transfer element to a rear stage side element. When the signal CH is set up to an 'L' level, the switching element Ya, Xa are turned off and the elements Yb, Xb are turned on, so that the inputted data DS are transferred to the reverse direction from the front stage side transfer element to the rear stage side transfer element. Since the switching control circuit is integrally arranged, reversible transfer can be attained, and since the transfer direction can be properly changed during the operation, the application range of the shift register can be expanded. |
