An imaging plate for colour picture reproduction comprises a ceramic carrier plate (14) supporting a matrix (12) of LEDs, vertical electrolytic strips (20) and semiconductor masks (22) covering the strips and arranged to cover a group of filters contg. a red, a blue and a green filter. Horizontal strips (24) cross the vertical strips (20). A diode (26) is set at each crossing point. The image signal is converted to a digital signal. Individual diodes are selectively activated depending on the digital signal to produce a video display. USE/ADVANTAGE - Compact and inexpensive efficient device for reproducing good quality colour pictures without dazzle and interference as is usual with LED screens.
