The present invention relates to an exhaust muffler for engines mounted on jet-propelled small-sized boats, motor bicycles and other various vehicles. To improve the exhaust muffling effect, engine output performance and engine start performance, the invention provides an arrangement wherein; the hollow interior of an outer sleeve (23) is divided by a partition cover (26) into two parts, an expansion chamber (A) of relatively large volume on the front side and a resonant chamber (B) of relatively small volume on the rear side, and an exhaust gas lead-in nozzle (35) fixedly fitted to the small-diametered open central region of a front cover (24) defining the expansion chamber (A) is formed with exhaust gas swirl producing stator blades (36), the small-diametered open central region of the partition cover (26) defining the resonant chamber (B) is integrally connected to the small-diametered open central region of a rear cover (25) by a small-diametered second inner sleeve (32) having a number of small holes (33) distributively formed therein, so that exhaust gases entering the expansion chamber (A) through the nozzle (35) are swirled and are led out rearwardly at high speed through the second inner sleeve (32) of the resonant chamber (B).
