PURPOSE:To get an efficient and good quality of laser beam by providing an iodine laser resonator with three or more mirrors or resonance. CONSTITUTION:In an iodine laser resonator 5, iodine gas is supplied into exciting oxygen together with carrier gas such as argon gas, nitrogen gas, etc., so as to bring about reaction. The iodine molecules are dissociated by exciting oxygen and turns to iodine atoms. Furthermore, the iodine atoms are pumped. That is, the exciting oxygen is used for both the dissociation of iodine molecules and the pumping of iodine atoms, but the energy used for iodine molecule dissociation is little, a great part of energy is converted into the iodine laser beams of 1.315mum. In this case, since three or more mirrors for resonance are provided, inside the iodine laser resonator 5, the laser beams advance zigzag right and left. |
