The invention discloses the use of a corona plasma electrode, preferably the reference electrode as a recipient for precipitation of contaminants of a gaseous medium conducted through a flow-through air treatment device (1), said air treatment device (1) comprising a downstream ozone mitigation device (4). The duration of exposure of said contaminant to reactive oxygen species, especially ozone (O₃), is thereby prolonged up to or exceeding an effective value necessary for decontamination.
