PURPOSE:To provide a titled casting mold for casting a molten steel which is contg. Zn as an impurity and is capable of preventing diffusion of Zn to the mold by forming a protective film consisting of Co alone or a Co alloy on the inside surface of the casting mold base body formed of Cu or Cu alloy. CONSTITUTION:A Co film which consists of Co alone or an alloy contg. at least >=10% Co and a similar metal such as Ni, has about 10-1,000mum, more preferably 30-300mum thickness and is provided with a function to prevent difusion of Zn is formed as an essential material of a protective film on the inside surface of a casting mold base body formed of Cu or a Cu alloy. A molten steel contg. Zn formed of scrap of a galvanized iron plate, etc. as an impurity is continuously cast by using such casting mold, by which the penetration and fiffusion of Zn to the casting mold base body is prevented and the decrease in the thermal conductivity and strength to thermal fatigue of the casting mold formed of copper is prevented. Said Co film has good adhesion to the base body, is hardly crackable and is highly resistant to heat and wear. The film is capable of maintaining effect as the protective film for a long period of time. |
