PURPOSE:To reduce crosstalk and to display an excellent stereoscopic picture by providing a color filter having a pass band coincident with an illuminance characteristic of a projection section to a front face of the projection section projection a picture for left eye and a right eye for each prescribed period. CONSTITUTION:A video signal output section 2 of a display device main body 1 gives a picture signal for left eye and a right eye to a projection type CRT 3 for each field and a light beam is projected onto a projection screen 6 via a projection lens 4. A color filter 10 having a characteristic corresponding to an illuminance characteristic of the CRT 3 is provided on an optical axis of the lens 4 and a polarization filter 5 having a switch characteristic is provided. A switching signal generating circuit 7 selects a plane of polarization of the filter 5 corresponding to the changeover of the picture signal for right and left eyes and a stereoscopic image is obtained by a polarization eyeglass having prescribed left and right planes of polarization. Thus, the characteristic of an optical switch is improved and a picture with an excellent stereoscopic sense without crosstalk is obtained. |
