<p>A blood pressure measuring apparatus (1) is provided with a detection mechanism, which detects the hydrostatic pressure difference between the heart (4) and another part (3) of the human body at which blood pressure is measured, and a calculation mechanism, which adds or subtracts this hydrostatic pressure difference, detected by means of the detection mechanism based on the positional relationship of the point at which blood pressure is measured and the heart, to or from the blood pressure value at the point at which blood pressure is measured; this makes it possible to eliminate measurement discrepancies arising from positional differences between the point at which blood pressure is measured and the heart and thus obtain highly accurate blood pressure readings. <IMAGE></p> |
