In a mechanism for controlling the travel of a structural member, such as a drawer 2 mounted in a cabinet 1, the drawer is formed with a pair of rails 7, 7 which slide on fixed rails 3, 3 formed inside the cabinet. A movable traveller member 9 is fixed to each of the drawer rails 7 and comprises a coil spring 20 for automatically closing the drawer 2. A catch 22 is formed inside each movable traveller member 9 for holding them at a desired position to prevent the drawer 2 from closing when it is fully pulled out. At this point the drawer 2 may be disengaged from the movable member 9. Damping mechanisms 12 are geared to a rack 5 formed on each fixed rail 3 to prevent the drawer 2 from closing abruptly. <IMAGE> |
