Glazing ceramic bodies with uniform coating - by using initial slip coating with increased thickness in edge region

Process consists of initially coating the surface with a ceramic slip whose thickness in the edge regions is greater than in the other areas. Slip and ceramic body are fixed before granulates of the glaze material is sprinkled over the still hot surface prior to firing again. Process may also involve a screen printing paste layer being produced on the slip coating. ADVANTAGE - Ensures a uniform glaze surface over all the body, esp. the edge areas.
