<p>A method of inhibiting bone resorption in vivo is provided. The method comprises administering a therapeutically effective amount of a composition containing the perchlorate (ClO4-) ion. A composition possessing inhibitory properties towards bone resorption is also provided, the composition containing the perchlorate (ClO¿4?-) ion. The invention also provides a method for use in the treatment of diseases or conditions characterised by bone resorption, e.g. osteoporosis, comprising administering a pharmaceutical composition containing, as active ingredient, the perchlorate (ClO¿4?-) ion and a method of preventing and/or treating inflammatory osteolysis which comprises administering a therapeutically effective amount of the perchlorate (ClO¿4?-) ion.</p> |
