Support device for an alphanumeric display (1), in particular for a telephone instrument. It consists of a receptacle (6) made of transparent plastic, and in the shape of a bottomless parallelepiped. The display (1) is inserted into this receptacle, and is held there against the upper face (8) by clipping tabs (9). Internal guide grooves are provided moreover for the leads 3 of the display. This receptacle clips onto the receiver printed circuit (5) via fingers (12) provided for this purpose. <IMAGE>
