<p>A device for packaging simple in structure and compact in size as well as a method of packaging, in which a band-like material (1) supplied from supply means is stretched in at least one of longitudinal and transverse directions by stretching means and said stretched material (9) is wound around goods (11) by winding means so that the amount of material to be used and the time for packaging may be reduced. In the example shown in the drawing, the band-like material (1) is stretched in the traverse direction when it is gripped at zones near widthwise both ends thereof by gripping means of conveying units (3a, 3b) and conveyed by said conveying units (3a, 3b) while being widened gradually toward the front end whereas it is stretched in the length wise direction by means of rolls (7a, 7b). A perforated band-like material, when stretched, increases air permeability and decreases shrinkage in the widthwise direction after stretched.</p> |
