PURPOSE:To make the steering operation of rear wheels satisfactory by provid ing such an arrangement that the larger the steered angle of front wheels, the smaller the variation rate of the steering angle of the rear wheels correspond ing to the variation thereof becomes, and by compensating the rear wheel steer ing characteristic toward the safe side when a bad road is detected. CONSTITUTION:When a steering wheel 8 is turned, front wheels 1L, 1R are steered in accordance with a turned angle of the steering wheel 8 by way of a relay rod 5 and knuckle arms 3L, 3R in a front wheel steering mechanism A. A rear wheel steering mechanism B includes knuckle arms 11L, 11R, and a relay rod 12, and incorporates a neutral holding means 13. A servo-motor 20 steers rear wheels 2L, 2R when a clutch 22 is engaged by way of the rear wheel steering mechanism B. The larger the steered angle of the front wheels, the smaller the variation rate of the rear wheel steered angle corresponding to the variation thereof is set by a control unit U. When slip control determines a bad road, the rear wheel steering characteristic is compensated toward the safe side. Accordingly, it is possible to carry out satisfactory steering operation of the rear wheels even during running on a bad road. |
