Process and device for cutting off material in web form in doubling roll-type reel cutters. A wide web (12) of paper or the like is wound off a wide roll (11) in a take-off station (10). The wide web (12) is divided lengthwise into at least two narrower partial webs (24) in a cutting station (20). The narrower partial webs (24) are wound up in two take-up stations (40, 50) consisting of at least one take-up device (41, 51) arranged on either side of the doubling rolls (30,; 30, 30'). On completion of take-up, the partial webs (24) are each cut off perpendicular to the length of the web on the section between the doubling rolls (30; 30, 30') and each of the already wound partial web rolls (25) by means of a knife (61) which can be moved along the cutting line. The cutting-off device (60) used for this purpose has a single knife guide (62). The knife guide can be swivelled about the doubling roll(s) (30) along a line (63), preferably an arc of a circle, and the swivelling path passes through both cutting-off positions. First, the knife guide is swivelled into the first cutting-off position and from there into the second cutting-off position; the knife guide is then swivelled back into the starting position. |
