PURPOSE:To save oil for fuel required to calcine raw coke by mixing a specified percentage of raw coke having a specified grain size with calcined coke and using the mixture in place of conventional calcined coke alone. CONSTITUTION:When fine grain coke breeze, medium grain coke breeze and coarse grain coke breeze are blended in a prescribed ratio and kneaded with a binder, raw coke is used chiefly in the medium grain part by <=30wt% of the total amount of the coke breezes. Considering >=5mm. grain size, 0.2-5mm. grain size and <=0.2mm. grain size to be coarse grain, medium grain and fine grain, respectively, the blend is composed of about 15-20wt% coarse grain part, about 24-45wt% medium grain part and about 35-55wt% fine grain part. When the amount of raw coke used exceeds 30wt%, an electrode has a high shrinkage rate during baking, and remarkable deformation and cracking are caused in case of a baked type electrode and a self-baking type electrode, respectively. |
