The articulated crane, designed to allow rapid transport on normal roads, consists of a jib in a number of folding sections (3, 5, 12, 13) which collapse into a compact space when not in use, and a pulley and cable system (13, 14, 15, 19) which deploys the crane and lifts and lowers the loads. The pulleys and cable are arranged so that the crane jib top section moves slowly at the start of its deployment, and more rapidly towards the finish.
