摘要 PURPOSE:To allow the method to cope with both an electric signal and a light signal and to simply rewrite the signal by controlling the quantity of oxygen included in an oxide and making a change in the quantity of oxygen correspondent with a signal level so as to record information thereby increasing the storage capacity more than that of using a magnetic material. CONSTITUTION:The quantity of oxygen included in an oxide is controlled, and the state of quantity of the content of oxygen in the oxide is utilized and the state change is made correspondent with a signal. That is, when the quantity of oxygen is decreased, the electric resistivity is increased, and the optical characteristic such as a reflectance is decreased when the quantity of oxygen is less. Furthermore, the quantity of oxygen is controlled by electrolysis, current supply or radiation of light, and the quantity of oxygen in the oxide is varied continuously with the level of an input signal such as electric field, current or light. Thus, various kinds of information are recorded by utilizing a change in a physical quantity such as an electric or optical quantity as the electric resistivity, absorbing rate and reflectance caused by a change in the quantity of oxygen in the oxide. Thus, it is possible to improve the recording density and to attain multi-value recording.
