EXHAUST GAS PURIFYING MATERIAL AND PURIFICATION OF EXHAUST GAS

PURPOSE:To obtain a purifying material purifying aldehyde in exhaust gas in a highly selective manner even at low temp. by supporting a porous ceramic carrier having Cu supported thereon on a porous ceramic filter. CONSTITUTION:A porous ceramic carrier such as zinc oxide or zirconia having an aldehyde converting catalyst composed of Cu supported thereon is supported on a porous ceramic filter. In this case, Cu in the aldehyde converting catalyst is set to a ratio of 10-50% by wt. of the metal components of the porous ceramic carrier. The purifying material thus obtained converts aldehyde in exhaust gas to CO2 and H2 even at low temp. of about 200 deg.C or lower in a highly selective manner while suppresses harmful CO.
