DEVICE FOR POSITIONALLY RETAINING FLEXIBLE TRASH BAG LINER RELATIVE TO A TRASH RECEPTACLE

A trash bag liner retaining and air venting device is attachable to a trash receptacle. The device includes a rim having an inner surface which defines a cavity sized and configured to accept therein at least a part of the trash receptacle top, and the means which positionally retain the liner relative to the receptacle top. The rim includes at least one pair of spaced-apart ribs, each rib being formed on an iinner surface of the rim and protecting into its defined cavity. The inner surface of the rim thus establishes, between adjacent pairs of ribs, a channel to permit air trapped between the liner and the trash receptacle to escape. In one embodiment, the ribs themselves constitute the means for retaining the liner relative to the receptacle top. Ill another embodiment, such retaining means is provided by a locking ring which nestably receives the rim and thus captures the liner therebetween.
