PURPOSE:To reduce the malfunction of focusing with a simple structure by arranging image pickup elements so that optical paths to image pickup elements are different in length. CONSTITUTION:An optical paths of the luminous flux passing a lens system 11 is divided into two by a beam splitter 1, and one luminous flux is made incident on a Y system CCD 2 through an optical path SY having an optical path length L, and the other is made incident on a C system CCD 3 through an optical path SC having an optical path length L+delta. Relations 0<delta<=delta1+delta2 are satisfied where delta1 and delta2 are allowable extents of defocus of the luminance signal converting means consisting of the CCD 2 and a Y system processing 4 and the color signal converting means consisting of the CCD 3 and a C system processing 5 respectively. A high frequency component H1 (integral value) of the video signal from the CCD 2 is outputted form a BPF 6, and a high frequency component H2 (integral value) of the composite color signal from the CCD 3 is outputted from a BPF 8. The component H2 is corrected to H3 by an AF microcomputer 9 so that the component H1 is equivalent to the component H2, and H1-H3=H is observed, and a focusing lens 5 is controlled by a focusing motor 10 so that H is 0. |
